A medieval castle…

Sunday, July 27th, 2008

ThisMarch I had MadAlfred and his family here in Austria and I showed them my beautiful country. Amongst the places we visit also was the Burg Kreutzenstein, a castle about 12 miles outside of Vienna. As I made a lot of photos I thought it would be nice to share them with you. Perhaps you get some inspiration for your roleplaing games :-) . And before you ask: yes it was snowing…

The Old World from A - Z: A is for Agitator

Saturday, July 26th, 2008

Some years ago Rev. Garett Lepper wrote a series of articles about how to roleplay the various careers in WFRP. Though the stuff was originally written for the first edition of the game it is still valid for the 2nd edition. As the A-Z articles were a very good resource for roleplayers I thought it would be a great idea to share it again with all the fans out there. So I will republish the A-Z articles in the next week and if you like them, perhaps I will write some additional :-D

The first article is about the first career in the rulebook (in both versions): the Agitator.

Shooting into Melee

Sunday, July 13th, 2008

I came across this topic when browsing through the Warhammer forums of FFG and found it a very interesting topic. We all know the situation when the PCs encounter a group of monsters and a battle starts. Some of the PCs are involved directly in hand-to-hand combat while others try to support them by firing with bows, crossbow or guns at the enemy. The WFRP rulebook p. 130 states that a character firing into melee suffers a -20% Ballistic Skill penalty.  But what happens when a shooter misses? Does his missile just miss or could it actually hit another combatant in the melee?

The southern Old World - a brief history

Sunday, July 13th, 2008

Unlike the lands that became the Empire and Bretonnia, the southern Old World was relatively untouched by Dwarf and Elf. The first Human migration from the south occurred hundreds of years after the Elder Race prevailed against the invaders that surged into the world when the Chaos gates collapsed. These semi-nomadic tribes settled along the river valleys and seacoast of Estalia, Tilea, and the southwestern Border Princes.

Saturday, July 12th, 2008

On Nov. 30th, 2001 I had the opportunity to interview Tuomas Pirinen, author of Mordheim and Warhammer Fantasy Battle 6. Though it has been a very, very long time since then, I thought it would be interesting for some of you. Tuomas left GW years ago and got into computer games industry, though I lost track what happened to him…
