What do we need?
Basically we are happy to publish nearly every article connected to Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay and Mordheim. Strike to Stun is in constant need of reviews about the latest sourcebooks published for Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay. So if you have just purchased and read a new copy of a sourcebook and are willing to write a review, just go for it!
If you have a special house rule of which you think it is worth to be shared with other players around the world, write it and submit it. Also adventures, new careers, background material about the Old World are always welcome to be published. It is just limited by your imagination.
Your material has to be written by you, and you alone. So please don’t try to copy material that has been published elsewhere on the internet or in printed form. Violating the copyrights is piracy and therefore illegal. Strike to Stun is a fan-made website in no way endorsed or supported by Games Workshop, Black Industries or Fantasy Flight Games. Our site exists because we play by the rules Games Workshop made for their intellectual property. Please help us not breaking these rules by not violating their guidelines.
Will every submission be published?
Since 2001 we provide high quality material on our site. And we are planning to publish stuff of this high quality in the future. So it basically depends on your materials quality if it can be published on Strike to Stun.
Don’ts when writing for Strike to Stun
• No GW- /BI/FFG-bashing: just lets ask a question: if you dislike their stuff so much why bother writing an article? It is okay to criticize but please avoid senseless bashing.
• Be careful with the language you use when writing a submission. Using inappropriate language might offend people visiting Strike to Stun. Please keep in mind that this site is a place for gamers of all ages!
• Don’t use copyrighted material without explicit permission of the owner! Please don’t copy material, regardless if it is out of print material (Flame, Hogshead, etc.), material from other companies (ie. converting a D&D adventure to WFRP) or even fanmade stuff you found while browsing a website. Imagine how you would feel if you find out that somebody pretends to wrote stuff that actually was written by you…
Do I retain my copyrights?
All material published at Strike to Stun is owned by its authors. So you have the full copyrights for your material. It is possible to publish your article under a creative commons license (www.creativecommons.org). If you are interested in publishing under such a license please tell us. Please don’t forget checking the checkbox next to “I give Strike to Stun the permission to publish my material.” as otherwise we would not put it online.
How long should submissions be?
We strongly encourage you to use the limits shown below. This limits are guidelines about the maximum length of a submission but it is no problem if you exceed this limits slightly (e.g. writing a review that has 1100 words).
Reviews: not more than 1000 words
Articles: between 2000 and 4000 words
Adventures: between 6000 and 10000 words
Please also keep in mind that your submission should not be greater than 3 MB in size (a fairly great size for a text submission…). If your submission exceeds this limits, please contact us in advance.
How do I submit?
If you want to submit, just fill in the web-form at the end of the page. Fill in your name, your email-address (please a valid address because we want to get back on you), the subject and a short abstract about your article (what is it about), optionally add the file with your article and hit the submit button. Under normal circumstances you will be contacted per email within a few days in which you get further information.
In which format shall I submit my material?
Please only send us submissions in Microsoft Word “.doc”- format (or the newer docx-format if you have the latest MS-Office version). If you don’t have Microsoft Word you can use Open Office, a free text processing suite which is able to export documents into the .doc format. You can download it at www.openoffice.org/. We have no use for submissions in other exotic formats. Please don’t send your stuff in .pdf-format as it is very awkward to process material in this format. If your submission consists of more files (e.g. a document and several graphics of maps) please zip the stuff.
Don’t format the text in your word documents. There is no need to waste time with formatting and layouting your document. Your submissions will be converted to html-format before they are published on Strike to Stun. So a fully layouted text will be more cumbersome for us to work with. It is sufficient when we are able to see which part of your text are headlines and which are the paragraphs. The rest of it will be made by us.
Please don’t include pictures or maps in your document. If you have pictures, please send them separately (simply zip them). We are only accepting pictures in .gif, .jpg or .png format.
For very large documents like MadAlfreds “Empire at War” campaign the procedure is different and is usually negotiated with the author.
Submissions that don’t follow this guidelines will be ignored!
